Overview
This tutorial is constructed from notes I wrote during the installation of Arch Linux on my younger sister's old Dell Inspiron laptop.
Some background information on this particular 600m, it was originally purchased in 2003. The RAM has been upgraded from the 512Mb it initially shipped with. The hard drive recently suffered a fatal crash that rendered it unable to write, however it was still read capable. I replaced the 40Gb factory model with a 120Gb unit.
